SushiMap's scoring methodology is completely independent of any affiliate or commercial relationship. Our FitScore is calculated using a transparent 6-axis framework (Local Advantage, Intimacy, Value Zone, Craftsmanship, Photo Compatibility, and Guest Experience), and no restaurant can pay to influence its score.

We will never rank a restaurant higher because of an affiliate relationship, and we will never suppress a negative assessment to protect a commercial partner. If a conflict of interest ever arises, we will disclose it explicitly on the relevant page.

Visited vs. Database Recommended

Each restaurant on SushiMap is labeled with one of the following tiers:

• Scout Verified — The restaurant has been researched through our scouting methodology, with data verified across multiple sources. It may or may not have been personally visited by our team.
• Database Recommended — The restaurant appears in our database based on aggregated public data. It has not been through our full scouting process. These are data-driven suggestions, not personal recommendations.

Restaurants that have been personally visited by our team carry a separate "Visited" badge. Only visited restaurants may include first-hand experience descriptions. We will never claim to have visited a restaurant we have not.

Accuracy of Information

We make every effort to keep restaurant information accurate and up to date. However, the following details are subject to change without notice:

• Prices — Dinner omakase prices may change seasonally or at the chef's discretion. Always confirm the current price when booking.
• Seat counts — Restaurants may adjust seating arrangements. Counter seat counts listed are approximate.
• Photography policies — Policies on food photography can change at any time. If listed as "Unconfirmed," please ask when making your reservation.
• Operating hours and closures — Restaurants may close temporarily or permanently. Check directly before visiting.
• Reservation availability — Booking channels listed may change. If a linked platform no longer serves a restaurant, try contacting the restaurant directly.

When in doubt, we recommend confirming details directly with the restaurant. We provide a Japanese-language reservation template on each restaurant page to help with this.

Google Ratings and GTrust Score

Google ratings and review counts displayed on our site are sourced from publicly available data and may not reflect the most current values. Our GTrust score is a Bayesian-adjusted reliability metric we calculate independently — it is not affiliated with or endorsed by Google.
