SushiMap is a content website that curates and scores sushi restaurants across Japan's 47 prefectures. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.
Information We Collect
SushiMap does not require account creation or collect personal information directly. We do not ask for your name, email address, or any personally identifiable information unless you voluntarily subscribe to our newsletter.
The only data we collect is standard web analytics data through Google Analytics 4 (GA4), which includes:
- Pages visited and time spent on each page
- Referring website or search engine
- General geographic region (country/city level, not precise location)
- Device type, browser, and operating system
- Anonymized interaction events (clicks, scrolls)
This data is aggregated and anonymized. We use it solely to understand how visitors use our site and to improve our content and user experience.

SushiMap uses cookies in the following ways:
- Analytics cookies: Google Analytics 4 sets cookies to distinguish unique visitors and track sessions. These cookies do not contain personally identifiable information.
- Affiliate cookies: When you click a booking or affiliate link, the destination site may set its own cookies to track the referral. These cookies are governed by the respective partner's privacy policy, not ours.
We do not use advertising cookies, retargeting pixels, or any tracking technology beyond standard analytics.

SushiMap participates in affiliate programs with restaurant reservation platforms and travel services. When you click an affiliate link and make a booking, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you.

Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services:
- Google Analytics 4 — web analytics (Google Privacy Policy)
- Google Maps — embedded map links for restaurant locations
- Vercel — website hosting infrastructure
Each of these services has its own privacy policy governing how it processes data.
Data Retention
Google Analytics data is retained for 14 months, after which it is automatically deleted. We do not maintain any separate database of visitor information.
