Sushidokoro Yoshinobu (鮨處 よし信) buys its exclusivity not from the size of the room but from the discipline of the booking sheet. The kitchen takes reservation-only evenings and serves, at most, one to three groups a night — a self-imposed scarcity that turns a meal into something closer to a private engagement. Where the small box achieves intimacy through the geometry of the counter, Yoshinobu achieves it through restraint, simply by refusing to fill the floor.

The cooking is nigiri-centric, offered across a few tiers — a nigiri-only omakase, a sashimi-and-nigiri course, a fuller progression with sakana (肴) — beginning around ¥10,000 before drinks. Like the rest of Miyazaki's serious counters, the larder leans on the warm-current fish of the Hyuga-nada (日向灘), the Pacific stretch that gives this prefecture's sushi its softer, more tropical signature. The pacing, with so few guests in a night, is unhurried by design.

The honest complication is structural. The total seat count runs to twenty-six — a six-seat counter alongside private rooms and tatami space — which means, by our reckoning, this is not a true small box in the way Fukuzushi or Kamimura are. There is also conflicting information on whether the counter seats themselves can receive the full course, or whether the deeper progressions are served only in the private rooms.

So the curatorial advice here is specific: confirm two things at booking — that you can be seated at the counter, and that the counter can serve the course you actually want. Get those right and Yoshinobu offers a genuinely private, deliberate evening of Miyazaki nigiri; get them wrong and you may find yourself in a tatami room eating a meal designed for the counter.
