Where much of Shizuoka's dining splits between large banquet-style houses and casual coastal spots, this is one of the few rooms built around the quiet discipline of the small-box counter.
The draw is the water. Suruga-wan (駿河湾) is the deepest bay in Japan and among its most biologically diverse, its steep underwater terrain funneling a remarkable range of fish toward shore — sakura-ebi (桜エビ) and shirasu (しらす) in their seasons, alongside the deep-sea species the bay's canyon delivers and the tuna landed at nearby Numazu (沼津) and Shimizu (清水).
